	TAG TESTING Test and Tag is the process of inspecting and testing electrical appliances to determine if they are electrically safe for personal use. It is also referred to as test and tagging, testing and tagging, portable appliance testing, lead tagging or it’s very official title; *in-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment. This covers the type of appliances you plug into a standard 240V power point, just like in most homes. It also covers poly phase (three phase) electrical appliances. Appliances that are "hard-wired" (direct into the building’s power circuit) do not come under the scope of this service. The test and tag process involves two key steps;* The first step is to conduct a thorough visual inspection of the appliance for damage to the body and lead to ensure they are in good condition and do not present any obvious dangers. The second step is to electrically test the appliance to make sure it is electrically safe for personal use. Where possible, and safe to do so, testing should be performed under operational (fully powered up) conditions rather than the “static” testing method*. Depending on the outcome of the visual inspection and testing, either a pass or fail tag is attached to the lead of the appliance at the plug end. If it fails, then for safety reasons the appliance needs to be withdrawn from service pending repair or being discarded. If it passes, then you can continue using it. Take a look...
